TURNING POINT PROJECT

May 2020

Sculpted dress and crown printed with waste gluesticks and beads

Adapting to having tutorials online as well as being cut off from any studio access during the pandemic, I came across a packet of old hot gluesticks in different colours and with glitter that I’d bought as a child but never used. Seeing as it was a time of deep uncertainty, I delved into my father’s Buddhist prayerbook which he had gotten during his stint volunteering at a Buddhist temple in Sydney many years ago.

The final look is a transient and fragile art piece molded directly onto a mannequin with prayers interwoven into the glue-lace, which will melt and disintegrate if left under the sun at around 36°C.
