SHIRT PROJECT
NOODLE MAGAZINE
January - February 2020
Digitally printed cotton and synthetic jersey shirt with ribbed collar, button-down cuffs, and crossbody belt
As I was designing with the brand Marni in mind for this particular project brief, this shirt project draws inspiration from a variety of imagery ranging from Italian cycling jerseys with sponsor logos emblazoned boldly on the riders’ chests, to the vintage packaging of the first cup noodles produced in the 20th century by Japanese cup noodle manufacturer Nissin.
Inspired by the Y2K internet and bubblegum aesthetics of popular Asian fashion and culture magazines such as Fruits Japan and Vivi Mag, the photoshoot recontextualizes the wearing of the shirt as a joyous and playful celebration of the conveniences of modern life.
